About

Meet Amanda – Meditation Teacher, Coach, Retreat Facilitator and Somatic Movement & Nervous System Practitioner.
If you’re feeling burnt out, stuck in stress mode, or disconnected from yourself and in need of some tangible tools to balance life out a bit, I get it.
That was how I was introduced to meditation after the birth of my second child. Sleep deprivation, returning to work, and navigating personal challenges left me feeling depleted, anxious and searching for an accessible way to support my mental wellbeing.
My search eventually led me to Awareness Insight Meditation and, with the guidance of a teacher, a consistent daily practice began. Through regular self-observation, my mindset slowly began to shift. I experienced greater physical and emotional regulation, a deeper sense of compassion towards myself and others, and noticed a positive ripple effect within those closest to me. Working through every day stress in real time whilst also meeting parts of me that had been ignored or pushed aside for years through self preservation.
With a natural curiosity about human nature and an ever-evolving meditation practice, I eventually undertook an extensive 14-month teacher training through The School of Modern Meditation with teacher Claire Robbie. I also trained as a Coach and Mentor through The Being Way Method.
Alongside my meditation practice, I have spent many years working in the movement and wellness space as a Classical Pilates teacher at my studio House Of Pilates. Supporting clients through mindful movement, posture, breath, tension awareness, and body connection. This has naturally deepened my interest over the years in the relationship between the nervous system, stress, pain, and human behaviour.
This evolving path has led me into the ongoing study and practice of Somatic Movement Education in the tradition of Thomas Hanna, where I continue exploring the connection between body awareness, mindfulness, and self-regulation.
Today, I teach groups, individuals, and retreat guests throughout New Zealand, as well as online internationally by request. My work integrates meditation, mindfulness tools, embodied awareness, and movement practices to support greater balance, resilience, and connection in everyday life, with the intention of empowering each individual to take an active role in their own wellbeing.
The perfect remedy for living in this modern, faced paced world.
In early 2023, Inner Insight Retreats took flight, bringing together Amanda’s ten years of global experience in the hospitality and tourism industry and another decade plus in the wellness field teaching classical pilates from her boutique studio House of Pilates.
